Our First Month with the Munchkin

Here are the pictures of Kensington's first month at home. She had quite a lot of visitors. She also saw her first superbowl, celebrated her first Valentine's Day, went on her first walk around the block and let Mommy and Daddy had their first night out to get a drink at Burlap.

Our sweet little angle and the beginning of the weekly photos.

Grandpa and Grammy came down for Super Bowl Sunday. Kensington loved sleeping in Grandpa's arms while mommy took a little snooze.

Time for her weekly weigh in
Last year Auntie Paige and Uncle Bryan came down for Super Bowl Sunday. So, we thought it would be a great tradition to start. They picked up some delicious fried chicken and all of the fixins' in LA then headed our way to watch the big game and of course meet little miss. She even wore the outfit Aunt Paula got her along with a matching bow. The Ravens and 49ers played a pretty decent game but in the Braund household it was all about spending time with the baby and watching the commercials as well. Oh yeah and they had the chance to watch the weekly photo in action.

 Already 2 weeks old!

Our first walk around the block. We literally walked around the block and back to the house. It felt amazing to get some fresh air and exercise. Mike pushed the stroller down the hill and I managed around the flatter areas.

 Loving her little froggy pose.

One of the funniest moments during KJ's first month was when her umbilical cord fell out. We were told that it would fall out on its own within the first 10 days. So, we carefully cleaned and watched as it became more and more unattached until it was finally just hanging by a string. Then, one afternoon while mike was checking Kensington's diaper, he noticed the umbilical cord stub was out! The only trouble was, he couldn't find it...anywhere. After searching all around her onsie and even in her diaper, where should he find that little stub but in her hand. Yes, apparently she has a mind of her own about when and how things will be done.

On the 9th of February, our good friends Jason and Angie came down to meet Kensington. When we went to Vegas back in September, we had learned that Angie was only a couple weeks behind me and that their baby Chase would join the world in February. Originally our babies were due only two weeks apart but as we all know, Kensey decided to make her appearance a tad earlier than expected. It was great having them down to visit and share what we had learned during our first few weeks at home with our little one.

Later that night Uncle Brent and the Kriers came over to visit. The guys had a chance to enjoy celebratory cigars later in the evening while Taeah, Davis, Kensington and I slept inside.

This is probably one of my favorite pictures because it totally captures what an incredible husband, father and man Mike is. Here, he is bouncing the baby to sleep, while checking work emails on his phone and reading his "board packet." Off to the side is also the parenting book and a burp cloth just-in-casers.

Aunt Kym came to visit on her day off from work.
Throughout my entire pregnancy, Mike captured monthly pictures where I shared what types of food I was craving, how I was feeling etc. As you can see, we didn't quite make it to the 9 month shot. (I love how Kensington is looking up at the chalkboard wall so intently.)

One of my favorite pictures of Kensington.

We had a fantastic First Valentine's Day! Kensington and I got all dressed up to celebrate the big day with Daddy. When he got home, we had a lovely dinner at home after little lady went to bed.

One thing that I wasn't quite prepared for was baby acne. I was convinced that something was wrong, that she was allergic to breast milk or something. Even with the red bumps she still made cute little faces.  Luckily many of my mommy friends came over and shared with me that this was completely normal and that it would go away on its own...and it did!

Another one of my favorite pictures of Mike and Kensington. She looks like such a precious angel sleeping all cuddled in his arms.

Who can resist those adorable little cheeks?

My Gramma known as "Great Gramma Anne"

Karate Chop moves!

Before we knew it, one month had passed and it was time to get ready for Kensington's monthly photo. We decided that it would be really fun to look back at her growth in comparison to a giant elephant that Grammy had gotten her. The Keiths also gave us stickers to use each month just like the tie stickers they used for Liam's monthly pictures. Daddy gave her some hugs and cuddles to prepare for the photo shoot.  However, she still was not sure how she felt about the giant elephant. It was the first of many expressive photos of our little lady.

Just to give some size perspective...
Phew...photo shoots are exhausting!
