Carmel Valley 5K

This year I decided to participate in the Annual 5K to help raise money for the DMSEF (our district's educational foundation). For those you know me, I am not a runner. I never have been and never will be. I had planned on power walking the entire race. However, Jess had signed up to do the race as well and as we headed down the first part of the path, she said, "If you say right now that you can jog this entire thing, you can do it." And guess what? We did it! We jogged the entire race. Unfortunately, the last leg of the race was actually uphill which was incredibly difficult. But as we were trudging along, we looked across the street and we could see Mike and Kensington  up at the top of the hill to cheer us on. That was just the motivation we needed to push through. Overall the race was an incredible experience!

Mike captured us pushing up the hill!

One of my first graders, Audrey ran the race too!

Tough girls!

My #1 Cheerleader

My #1 Cheerleader and #1 Fan...such a lucky lady!

Once we got home Dudley ready to celebrate finishing the race as well (Mike also wanted to document the fact that I was rocking flip flops and socks.)
